In afternoon trading on Wednesday, Utilities stocks are the best performing sector, higher by 0.5%. Within that group, FirstEnergy (NYSE: FE) and Edison International (NYSE: EIX) are two of the day's stand-outs, showing a gain of 1.3% and 1.3%, respectively. Among utilities ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLU), which is up 0.4% on the day, and up 15.33% year-to-date. FirstEnergy, meanwhile, is up 6.76% year-to-date, and Edison International is up 29.81% year-to-date. Combined, FE and EIX make up approximately 6.5% of the underlying holdings of XLU.
