Why U.S. Oil Production Defeats Any Russian-OPEC Deal

Russian President Vladimir Putin will reportedly meet with Russian oil companies one week prior to OPEC's meeting in November to try to convince them on the need for oil production cuts. OPEC and Putin have already agreed that trimming oil output would help stabilize global oil markets. However, even if they reach an agreement, U.S. shale oil production is a wild card that could thwart their efforts.
