Foreign bonds are a hot topic in the financial press. In theory, adding foreign bonds to a portfolio adds diversification in two ways; they increase the number of names in a portfolio and provide a hedge against decline in the US dollar. Rebalancing between foreign bonds and US bonds also provides a risk reduction benefit and a long-term return benefit. |
