In the early 1970s my father decided to encourage me to save and teach me a bit about investing. Long before mutual fund management was a twinkle in my eye, Dad bought me $400 worth of a mutual fund. I believe it was the IDS Growth Fund (which became part of American Express). Given my experience with this lesson, it is a wonder I entered the investment world at all. |
