I recently got around to finishing Money and Power, William Cohan's in-depth look at the men and machinations that have made Goldman Sachs the firm it is today. Though there is plenty in the book to sink your teeth into -- the coup that unseated Jon Corzine as the firm's senior partner is interesting stuff -- the most timely passages come toward its denouement when the focus shifts to the years leading into the financial crisis and the firm's bets on the mortgage market.
