The New High Yield Markets

Not to long ago, investors looking for high yield corporate debt had to turn to the U.S.  They were the biggest, if not only game in town. Nearly 80% of a typical high yield bond portfolio was made up of U.S. corporates and just 11% were from non-U.S. issuers back in 1997. That's changing year over year. The new high yield markets are in the developing economies and even Europe as mid-cap companies struggle to get financing and are turning to bond lords for loans.
