Not All Cash Is Created Equal

A standard guideline in financial planning is that investors should use long-term investments to satisfy long-term needs and short-term investments to satisfy short-term needs.   Last month, I discussed how the real cost of a cash allocation makes this asset class an especially poor choice for investors with long-term goals, and at this point in time cash’s near zero return also makes it impractical as a source of current income.
