In her first book, Lillian Agbeyegbe weaves family memoir with creative dialogue between mother and child. The collection of family stories is an interesting read about an African mother raising a second generation American child.

(1888PressRelease) On Saturday, the 28th of January 2012, Lillian Agbeyegbe launched her new publication, Speaking My Daughter's Mind: A Collection of Blog Entries.

Lillian Agbeyegbe, who read a short excerpt from the book, said she got the inspiration to start the baby blog due to the many positive responses she received after she sent out a mass email to family and friends announcing the birth of her baby girl. The blog ultimately lead to this collection of witty stories.

At the launch, excerpts of the book were read by girls between the ages of 5-12, and they all showcased the book's fun and simple language.

Speaking My Daughter's Mind: A Collection of Blog Entries is an engaging narration of a growing toddler's actions seen though the perspective of the mother. The book beautifully captures the little everyday drama between a daughter and her mother. It also sheds some light on raising an American born daughter from a Nigerian perspective. The collection of stories highlights faith in God, which is fundamental to the lives of this mother and child.

Bose Oludipe, who gave an overview of the book, said that there are some sayings in it that will take Nigerians in America back to their childhood days in Nigeria. Words like "jangrova"- a homemade child's swing - brought about an eruption of laughter to the book launch audience.

Oludipe also said the book is one to be passed on to future generations who would identify with stories in the book.

Guests at the launch included Dr. & Mrs. Johnson Omoni, Rev. Felix Bamirin, Abimbola Laniyan, Bose Oludipe, Elizabeth Oyeniyi, Shirley Flinn, Lateph Adeniji and Laja Akintayo. In attendance were over 100 people, including representatives from the local church, and members of Nigerian families including the author's sister Roli Agbeyegbe.

Poet and Artiste Dr. Kole Odutola, sums up the book, "the acts are those of the daughter but the voice is that of her mother."

Speaking My Daughter's Mind: A Collection of Blog Entries is Lillian Agbeyegbe's first book. She holds a Master's degree in Public Health, from Hunter College, City University of New York and an Economics degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She lives in Grand Prairie, Texas with her second daughter, Toritse Theodora who is the main subject of the book.
