Hi-Grade: Viacom Bond Spreads Jump As Co. Eyes Debt To Shore Up Liquidity

Viacom is eyeing its first bond offering in nearly two years to bolster liquidity, after the company’s “comprehensive review” of its capital structure and operating budget—following a high-profile boardroom shakeup—led it to halve its quarterly dividend today. The company also said it had ended the search for a minority investor in Paramount Pictures, for now damming a potential stream of proceeds to bring down its elevated leverage.
