Emerging Market Equities Punished For West's Economic Woes

Investors have overwhelmingly sold out of emerging market equities this year in response to declining values and losses in core holdings in Europe and the U.S.  According to Barclays and EPFR Global, equity outflow from emerging markets as of Dec. 13 totaled $29.9 billion compared to equity outflows of just $5.4 billion in western Europe and outflows of under $4 billion in North America.
