Does Discount Grocer Aldi Have the Upper Hand in Urban Growth?

Aldi, the German-owned limited assortment grocery operator, has beaten Walmart and Target to the punch, at least in New York City, and this could bode well for Aldi’s urban prospects in general. According to a March 29  New York Times article, Aldi recently opened a location in Rego Park, Queens, with another planned soon for the Bronx. (There are a number of Aldi’s in the NYC metro area already.)
