British Prime Minister David Cameron is to meet his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, over the next two days in New York - the first bilateral talks between the two sides at this level of seniority since the 1979 revolution. We should not be surprised. This is an era in which the west needs to be friends with Iran - unwillingly, probably, but with little other pragmatic choice. |
