In one of his now classic visits to Capitol Hill, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke addressed the Joint Economic Committee and gave no clues as to further QE. Despite his bland language on accommodation, Bernanke did warn policymakers about the nefarious effects of “the so-called fiscal cliff,” noting that a “sudden and severe contraction in fiscal policy” posed a main risk to what has been a feeble recovery. |
