Word that Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria rejected an offer by Jeb Bush to purchase the ballclub received little attention when it made the news a few weeks ago. Maybe it was because there didn?t seem to be much more to tell. After all, Loria insists that he is not willing to sell the franchise?to anyone, anytime?and Bush, the former Florida governor, hasn't made public comments about the supposed offer. But the possibility of Bush leading a group that could purchase the Marlins has implications worth exploring, both in terms of the future of the franchise and the future of the Oval Office.
