A rough stretch for U.S. stocks got something of a respite Wednesday, but the Dow Jones industrial average couldn't hold on to triple-digit gains and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq wound up closing in the red. Investors spent the choppy session mulling over earnings from the likes of Apple, Boeing and Caterpillar. |
