Some 200,000 Taiwan businesspeople working in mainland China have returned home to vote in tomorrow’s tight presidential election, an increase of about 11% from the last presidential election in 2008, according to a report in the Taipei-based China Times today. In order to encourage Taiwan staff to return home to vote, some businesses gave workers time off, the Chinese-language newspaper said. The elections comes just ahead of this month’s Chinese New Year holiday. |
